Fringe on Campus 2008
“Fringe on Campus” is a long-term outreach program to be organized annually by “Fringe Shanghai”. By offering arts education opportunities as well as theatre-related information and activities, it aimed to broaden the artistic vision of the young people in Shanghai.
Fringe on Campus is an outreach program of “Fringe Shanghai” aimed at offering young people in the city an international perspective of performing arts. Over 1,000 students had already benefited from the outreach activities of “Fringe Shanghai 2006”Fringe on Campus 2008 invited All Theatre Art Association, a professional multi-media theatre group from Hong Kong, to present a Campus Tour and 2 Mask Theatre Workshops in Shanghai. The Campus Tour was brought to nearly 4000 students in 12 schools located in 6 districts. Instead of solely watching the artistic performance, the audience could also go on stage and join in the improvisation activities. Along with the tour, every student got a FREE Fringe Smart Kit –Theatre ABC, which was tailor-made for young people and produced together with the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center. The bilingual book introduced the history of theatre with popular sub-themes such as mask or theatrical games. The Mask Theatre Workshop, facilitated by the artists from All Theatre, brought the joy of theatre to the participants as well as teaching them about mask and performing skills.

Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre is the only national theatre in Shanghai and it is the most open theatre in China.
The company has been invited to perform in Britain, USA, France, Australia, Russia, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Korea, Egypt, China Hong Kong and China Taiwan, winning critical acclaim. The project SDAC presented include Asia Contemporary Theatre Festival, 100th Anniversary of Samuel Beckett’s Birth etc.
