Three descendants of the Zhao family of craftsmen from Taiwan are re-working the traditions handed down to them by their ancestors. Their wonderful workshop for Fringe Shanghai is geared towards pottery lovers and families who love to create.

You'll make pottery pieces with wheat sheaf patterns while, at the same time, filling your creations with DIY glutinous rice balls and ginger tea. Invite your friends and family to a relaxing afternoon mixing food, drink and pottery.

DaYa is a town in Taiwan which grows wheat. The Zhao Family Kiln combines the characteristics of pottery and wheat to create “elegant potteries out of the beauty of wheat”, building up a well known cultural industry that encourages participation by all people.

The Zhao Family is a craftsmen family that has been making potteries for 3 generations. The three brothers of Zhao are successors of old cultural traditions.
